In addition to burning fat and boosting your metabolic rate, you should focus on releasing two important hormones: Human Growth Hormone (HGH) and Testosterone. It was thought that these two hormones were vital in increasing lean muscle mass and strength.
However, we now know that HGH and Testosterone are also very important hormones for fat loss. The key to releasing huge doses of these two hormones is to train large muscle groups with compound movements. This is one of the major reasons why individuals who perform lots of crunches fail miserably.
Crunches are more of an isolation movement and do not work enough muscle to release any significant HGH or Testosterone. Instead, perform bodyweight movements that train two, three, four, or even more muscle groups at the same time.
